No words to describe how I felt and how grateful I will always be for those words. Cin, you are a rare… RARE jewel, a truly amazing writer and an all-around inspiration. I simply HAD to post this.

Rom, Ronny and myself back in July 2008 goofing around at B—– after a Friday spent at FLIP (Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty), a three-hour class on Saturday morning and a five-hour bus ride in between… Good times!

I haven’t bee writing nearly as much as I’d like to so to try and make up for lost time and for missed words I figured I’d at least do my best to come up with some decent captions… 8-|
1) I don’t remember noticing it the last time I was there but those are the exact same tiles (except for the color) that cover the floor of the hallway outside my dad’s place in CF. Whoa.
2) Ronny checking his e-mails and dreaming of flying to Vitória because the tickets are only 90R…
3) Robbie working on the noms while listening to a sad boy with a guitar
4) Comfy Urca living room
5) Books and… what’s in the bottle?
6) In the midst of all that blue and all that red, I saw the shadows.
7) A little piece of Amsterdam hanging on a blue wall
8) One day I’m gonna take those pillows home…
9) Silhouettes will NEVER be ignored. Not while I’m around.
10) Jujubes and sunlight.
11) An unfriendly, premeditated affront to end all affronts. And no, Ronny, that’s NOT an orange. >:(
12) Smiley ‘taters in need of some SPF 50
13) Frango de padaria e farofa de ovo… Mmmmmm…
14) O ‘noturno’ ali do lado
15) Ronny as a cross between Norman Bates and some alien creature
16) Random shot of the floor
17) Yikes…
18) One’s gotta take advantage of great lighting when holding a camera … and refrain from staring at the wall (if it’s not too much trouble) when on the other side of the lens.
19) See? Atta girl…
20-25) Late night serenade. Mostly 90’s stuff. Woo-hoo, Ron-ny!
It should be duly noted that the night officially came to a close outside with our witnessing the catching of a [bleep]ing WATER SNAKE!!! Sadly, no shots of that. We apologize. :(

Here’s to gaining some perspective on consumerism and childish wants in the company of one Tyler Durden.

I see in Fight Club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential. And I see it squandered. Goddamn it, an entire generation pumping gas. Waiting tables. Slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes. Working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on televison to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires and movie gods and rock stars. But we won’t. We’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.

Back in 2000, I read a book of essays entitled Paris to the Moon by New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik about his experience living in France. Something about Americans experiencing France always seems to lead straight to either uproarious laughter (David Sedaris comes to mind, always first in line in that regard) or the stirring recognition that some tidbit, observation or insight makes TOTAL sense (Gopnik cued in here.)
For D.
